Mississippi State Women’s Golf Rises to Fourth After Second Round at Moon Golf Invitational

Melbourne, Florida — Mississippi State women’s golf climbed into fourth place after the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational. The Bulldogs posted a 3-under-par score and are 6-over for the team through two rounds, 10 strokes behind the leader, Texas A&M.

Freshman Moa Stridh led the charge, shooting her second career round in the 60s with a 5-under 67. She jumped 37 spots on the leaderboard to tie for third place at 2-under par. Stridh became the 11th freshman in program history to record multiple rounds in the 60s in a single season.

Izzy Pellot concluded the round even par, marking her second straight round at or better than par. She entered the day tied for the top spot at 3-under but finished in second place, three strokes behind the individual leader. Pellot has now played 36 rounds of par or better in her career.

Leading the tournament are Texas A&M at 4-under, followed by Auburn at 1-under. Mississippi State is four strokes behind Auburn in fourth place.

Other notable Bulldogs include Ines Belchior and Samantha Whateley, both of whom carded 73s in the second round. Belchior is tied for 41st, while Whateley is tied for 47th. Avery Weed finished with a 73, and the team combined for a total score of 285, three strokes under par for the round.
