Mississippi State women’s basketball to face Texas on SEC Network in Austin
Mississippi State women’s basketball will play at Texas on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT, marking their first visit to the Moody Center in eight years. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network, with radio coverage available on the MSU Radio Network in Starkville, according to university sources.
The Bulldogs enter the matchup with an 18-9 record overall and a 5-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Texas, ranked No. 4 nationally, holds a 25-3 record and is 10-3 against ranked opponents this season. Texas has also won 40 straight home games at the Moody Center and has a 65-5 record there overall.
Mississippi State recently lost to Florida, 71-56, at Humphrey Coliseum. Freshman Madison Francis led the Bulldogs with 20 points, her fourth game this season scoring 20 or more. She also posted a team-high 13 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Francis remains the SEC’s leading freshman shot-blocker at 2.9 per game, second nationally.
Favour Nwaedozi averages a double-double, with 12.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, and has recorded 12 double-doubles this season. Three Bulldogs—Francis, Nwaedozi, and McPhaul—are averaging double figures in scoring.
Texas is led by Madison Booker, who averages 18.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in SEC games. The Longhorns have defeated top-10 teams including UCLA, South Carolina, LSU, and Oklahoma this season. The series between MSU and Texas is tied 3-3, with each team winning once in Austin. This will be the first meeting at the Moody Center, and Texas won last year’s game in Starkville, 68-64.
