Mississippi State to Host Iowa and Northwestern in Inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge
Mississippi State’s volleyball team is set to participate in the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge in September 2026, hosting Iowa and Northwestern in Starkville, Mississippi, according to the university’s announcements. The challenge will feature a series of matches between Big Ten and SEC schools over the course of a week.
The highlight of the event will be outdoor matches at Wrigley Field in Chicago, featuring Nebraska against Missouri and Penn State against Kentucky. The Bulldogs will face Iowa and Northwestern on September 3 and 4, with both games streamed on SEC Network+.
This will mark Mississippi State’s first-ever matchup against Iowa and their second against Northwestern. The team will also host neutral-site games involving Alabama, Iowa, and Northwestern during the event.
The full schedule for the challenge has not been finalized but includes matchups across multiple locations and dates from Sept. 1 to Sept. 6. The event aims to showcase high-level volleyball between the two conferences and highlight outdoor and historic venues.
