Mississippi State signee Lani Smallwood named McDonald’s All-American nominee
STARKVILLE — Lani Smallwood, a highly regarded high school basketball player from Albertville, Alabama, has been named a nominee for the 2026 McDonald’s All-American Game, according to an announcement from the organization.
Smallwood is one of five Alabama nominees and was previously named the state’s best high school player by MaxPreps earlier this season. The guard is averaging 26.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.3 assists per game in her final season at Albertville High School.
She is one of two signees in Mississippi State’s 2026 high school recruiting class. ESPN’s SportsCenter NEXT 100 ranks her as the 75th overall player and the 43rd-ranked guard in the 2026 signing class. The final selections for the McDonald’s All-American team have yet to be announced.
