Mississippi State Golfers Set Personal Bests at Thomas Sharkey Collegiate
STATESBORO, Ga. — Three Mississippi State men’s golfers achieved personal-best finishes at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate held at the Georgia Southern Golf Course.
Ben Kelling tied for 16th place, marking his best finish at Mississippi State. He opened the final round with three birdies in his first 11 holes before finishing with a 4-over 76 and an 8-over total for the tournament, according to school officials.
True freshman Jackson Cook finished in a tie for 28th, his highest career finish. He shot back-to-back rounds of even-par 72, the lowest scores of his collegiate career. Trip Duke tied for 33rd, also his best showing of the season, while Bryson Hughes finished in 45th place, his top finish at State.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to begin their spring team season at the Watersound Invitational from Feb. 16-18, the school announced.
Final individual results for Mississippi State include Kelling at 224 (+8), Cook at 227 (+11), Duke at 230 (+14), and Hughes at 234 (+18).
