Mississippi State Falls to No. 6 LSU in regular-season finale
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State’s women’s basketball team fell to sixth-ranked LSU 72-63 on Sunday, failing to overcome a strong second quarter by the Tigers.
The Bulldogs outscored LSU in two quarters and were only outscored by two points in the final quarter. However, LSU’s 23-8 run in the last 10 minutes of the first half proved decisive, according to game summaries from the school.
Kharyssa Richardson led Mississippi State with 18 points on 50% shooting, marking her 12th game in double figures this season. Freshman Madison Francis set a school record for blocks in a season, finishing with 13 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and four blocks. She now has 84 blocks this season, the fourth-most in Bulldog history.
Chandler Prater scored 10 points, her 11th game in double figures, and added five rebounds and two steals. Favour Nwaedozi posted her 14th double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Bulldogs will face Florida in the opening round of the SEC Tournament, with tipoff scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. on SEC Network, according to school officials.
