Mississippi State falls to No. 5 Florida 108-74 in SEC game

Mississippi State suffered a 108-74 loss to No. 5 Florida in an SEC matchup on March 3, according to coach Chris Jans. The Bulldogs started strong but were unable to maintain their momentum throughout the game.

Jans said his team focused on establishing a good start after recent poor openings. He praised the Bulldogs’ effort early, noting they threw a punch that resulted in at least a 14-0 run. However, Florida’s experience and size eventually took over.

“They’re a good basketball team and are gearing up for another strong run,” Jans said. “We played together and battled, but ultimately, we got outplayed.”

Jans highlighted the challenges of defending Florida’s size and rebounding. He noted that his team was often outsized and made too many individual mistakes on the boards, with players sometimes assuming teammates would secure rebounds instead of crashing the glass.

The coach emphasized the importance of regrouping for their final home game against Georgia. Jans expressed frustration with the season but remained optimistic about motivating his team for their last game before heading to the SEC tournament in Nashville.
