Mississippi State Alumni Highlight NFL Divisional Playoff Weekend
Several Mississippi State alumni are participating in the NFL divisional playoffs this weekend. Charles Cross, a first-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks, is expected to play in Saturday’s NFC Divisional Round game against the San Francisco 49ers at 7 p.m. on FOX. Cross missed three games with a hamstring injury but was a full participant in practice Thursday, according to team reports.
The 49ers feature former Bulldogs star K.J. Wright, who is on the sidelines as a defensive quality control coach. Wright, a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, has roots at Mississippi State.
On Sunday, two more Bulldogs are set to take the field. Rookie running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks and defensive end Denico Autry will suit up for the Houston Texans in their game against the New England Patriots at 2 p.m. on ABC and ESPN. Marks recently posted his first 100-yard rushing game, including a 13-yard touchdown in a win over the Steelers. Autry contributed a half-sack in that victory.
The Texans also have former Bulldogs safety Stephen Adegoke coaching their safeties. Later Sunday, the Chicago Bears will host the Los Angeles Rams at 5:30 p.m. on NBC, featuring first-round picks Montez Sweat and Emmanuel Forbes. Sweat, a Super Bowl champ, and Forbes will represent Mississippi State on the field in this matchup.
Additionally, the Buffalo Bills’ roster includes linebacker Darius Slay, a six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, who is currently listed as “did not report” for the postseason.
