Millsaps Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls to Christian Brothers and Northwest Mississippi

The Millsaps College men’s tennis team lost to Christian Brothers University and Northwest Mississippi Community College over the weekend. The Majors fell 5-2 to Christian Brothers on Saturday and 5-3 to Northwest Mississippi on Sunday, according to school officials.

Against Christian Brothers, Millsaps earned two singles wins. Senior Sam Tuli and sophomore Sebastian Gonzalez each claimed victories. Tuli won 6-3, 6-2, while Gonzalez took a 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) win in the second-set tiebreaker. The doubles team of Nguyen and Causey also secured a win for the Majors, but the overall match favored Christian Brothers.

The following day, Millsaps faced a tough challenge against No. 17 NJCAA-ranked Northwest Mississippi. The Majors started slow in doubles, losing all three matches, but rallied in singles play. Causey earned a third-set tiebreaker victory, while Tuli won in straight sets, improving his season record to 2-0. Freshman Bradley Schiaffino also won in a close third-set tiebreaker.

Despite their efforts, Millsaps was unable to overcome the deficit. The team will return home to host Belhaven University on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Mississippi University for Women on Sunday, March 1.
