Millsaps Men’s Basketball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

Three players from Millsaps College men’s basketball team earned All-SAA honorable mention honors, and junior Colt Donley was named to the All-SAA Sportsmanship Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Junior Jaxon Toney, junior Davion James and senior Caleb Kent received All-SAA Honorable Mentions after helping the Majors finish the regular season with a 15-10 record and secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming SAA Men’s Championship.

Toney, a 6-foot-7 center from Memphis, Tennessee, led defensively with 39 blocks, ranking third in the conference and 52nd nationally. He also posted seven double-doubles, averaging 12.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Additionally, Toney contributed 19 steals and 28 assists while shooting 56.8% from the floor.

James, a 6-foot-2 guard from Brandon, Mississippi, ranked second in the SAA in steals with 59 and averaged 2.4 steals per game. He also totaled 66 assists, averaging 11.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game over 27.7 minutes.

Kent, a 6-foot-2 guard from Madison, Mississippi, made the honorable mention list for the second straight season. He ranks sixth among SAA scorers, shooting 51.6% from the field and averaging 11.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Kent also recorded 25 steals, 28 assists and four blocks.

Donley, a 6-foot-3 guard from Newnan, Georgia, appeared in all 25 games, starting 23. He averages 8.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, shooting 73.9% from the free-throw line. Donley also has 35 assists, 15 steals and three blocks.

The Millsaps team will face No. 5 seed Southwestern at 4 p.m. Thursday in Mount Berry, Georgia, in the SAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Live video and stats will be available at gommajors.com. Fans are encouraged to follow the team on X, Instagram, and Facebook for updates.
