Millsaps Baseball Sweeps Series Finale Against No. 20 Rhodes, 7-3
JACKSON, Miss. — Millsaps College baseball defeated No. 20 Rhodes College 7-3 Sunday at Twenty Field, concluding their series with a win after dropping the first two games. The Majors lost Game 1, 10-6, and Game 2, 7-4, but bounced back to claim the series with their victory in the finale.
In the first game, Rhodes took advantage of big innings to secure the win. Millsaps led early, with senior Mason Morgan and sophomore Carston Williams contributing offensively. Freshman Dylon Lozano and senior Weston Myers pitched relief, allowing just one hit in two innings. Despite a late rally, Millsaps fell short, 10-6.
Game 2 saw Millsaps take an early lead but falter as Rhodes responded with timely hitting. Sophomore John Montour pitched 5.2 strong innings, but the Lynx edged out the Majors, 7-4. Millsaps’s offensive highlights included a triple from Wesley Grant and solid performances from Carr and Morgan.
The series concluded with Millsaps dominating in the third game. Senior Andrew Bradley earned the win, pitching 3.1 innings with one earned run. Fred Fields added 4.2 innings of relief, and freshman Jackson Devey closed with a scoreless inning for the save. Morgan drove in three runs, while Ousley contributed offensively with two hits and two RBIs.
The Majors scored four runs in the first inning and added three more in the second. Rhodes attempted a comeback, scoring two runs in the sixth, but Millsaps held on for the win. Millsaps will next face Berry College in a doubleheader Saturday in Mount Berry, Georgia.
