MC Women’s Basketball Loses at UAH in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — McKendree University women’s basketball fell to UAH, 83-39, Saturday at SportsMED Arena.
The loss drops the Lady Bearcats to 8-13 overall and 7-9 in Gulf South Conference play. UAH, meanwhile, improved to 21-4 overall and 16-1 in conference, as it continues its pursuit of the league’s regular-season title.
The Chargers made 12 three-pointers and controlled the rebounding battle, finishing with a plus-26 advantage on the glass. UAH took an early lead and maintained it throughout the game, using efficient shooting and strong defense.
UAB opened the game with a 21-11 lead after the first quarter and extended it with a 25-8 second quarter. They led 46-19 at halftime and continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring McKendree in both remaining quarters. The Chargers also out-rebounded the Lady Bearcats and relied on perimeter shooting to extend their margin.
McKendree’s Maddox Ivey led the team with 24 points, including six three-pointers, and added nine rebounds. Lili Wilken scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out three assists. Paris Opelt contributed 14 rebounds and six field goals.
The Lady Bearcats will conclude their three-game road trip Tuesday, traveling to Memphis to face Christian Brothers at 5 p.m. in Canale Arena.
