Lady Tigers fall to Lady Bobcats in both games with 1-9 scores
The Coahoma Lady Tigers were defeated by the Jones Lady Bobcats in both games of their doubleheader, with each game ending in a 1-9 score, according to team reports.
In the first game, Jones took the lead in the third inning after a series of errors by the Lady Tigers allowed three runs. Jones’s #9 earned the win, pitching four and one-third innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out four. The Lady Tigers’ starting pitcher, Shingler, allowed eight runs over three and one-third innings, with six hits and three walks, and took the loss. Anabelle Berryhill and Kimora Bouldin each had one hit for Coahoma, with Berryhill driving in the team’s only run. Jones’s hitters, including #16, #7, #3, #5, #15, #27, #13, and #1, each recorded one hit. Notably, #5 and #15 drove in two runs apiece, and #3 stole two bases. The Lady Bobcats remained flawless in the field, committing no errors and making six chances for #16.
The second game followed a similar pattern but started early, with Jones scoring in the first inning. The Bobcats scored five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a grand slam from #5. Jones added two more runs in the third and finished with a total of eight hits and nine runs. Coahoma’s pitcher, Bouldin, gave up six hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out one. Jones’s #20 pitched five innings, allowing three hits and one run, striking out seven. Coahoma’s Ables, Wallace, and Bouldin each had one hit. Benefield led the team with one RBI, and #5 contributed four RBIs with a 1-for-2 effort at the plate. Jones’s #12 led the team with two hits in two at-bats and drew five walks. The Lady Bobcats controlled the game on the base paths with three stolen bases and did not commit an error, while Coahoma struggled defensively with multiple errors.
