Kentucky Sweeps Ole Miss in Series Finale, 3-1

Kentucky evened its series against Ole Miss with a 3-1 victory Friday night at Swayze Field. The Wildcats scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, aided by two Rebel errors and three hits, to take control of the game.

Ole Miss starter Hudson Calhoun pitched effectively through three and two-thirds innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. JP Robertson finished the game with 3.1 scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing no hits.

Kentucky’s Jaxon Jelkin earned the win, tossing seven innings and allowing just one run on four hits, with three walks and six strikeouts. Nile Adcock closed out the final two innings, earning his second save of the season. Calhoun fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Ole Miss’s best scoring chance came in the bottom of the sixth when Austin Fawley hit a leadoff home run. The Rebels stranded two more runners in the inning and could not generate additional runs. In the ninth, Ole Miss had two runners on with two outs but could not score.

The series now shifts to a Saturday game scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Both teams have improved their records, with Kentucky moving to 19-3 overall and 4-1 in SEC play. Ole Miss dropped to 18-6 overall and 2-3 in conference action, according to the schools.
