Jones College Finishes Fourth at Pearl River Invitational
Diamondhead, Miss. — Jones College finished fourth in the Pearl River Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Diamondhead Country Club. The Bobcats posted a combined score of 316-307—623 in the 36-hole event, according to tournament organizers.
Sophomore Drew Groscost from Lewisburg led Jones with scores of 75 and 71 for a total of 146, finishing tied for fourth and earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Other Bobcats competing included Julius Hautmann of Germany, who shot 77-77—154, tying for 13th place. Bastian Graf, also from Germany, posted 85-77—162; Josh Tombs of England scored 81-82—163; Walker Hall of Wayne Academy shot 78-87—165 while competing as an independent; and Evan Bass finished with 83-84—167.
Mississippi Gulf Coast won the tournament with a team score of 589. Meridian finished second with 613, East Central was third at 616, and Itawamba placed fifth with 630. Dax Reaux of Meridian was the individual medalist with a score of 72-71—143, 1-under par. Paul Hoefer of MGCCC was second with 72-72—144, even par. MGCCC’s Cal Wier finished third at 74-71—145, and Sam Arthur of East Central tied Groscost for fourth with 70-76—146.
The next tournament on the schedule is the Tommy Snell Invitational, scheduled for Feb. 25-26 at Sunkist Country Club in Biloxi, according to the school.
