Jones College falls to Madison 8-4, faces elimination at NJCAA World Series

ENID, Okla. — Jones College was eliminated from the NJCAA Division II World Series after an 8-4 loss to Madison College on Sunday morning at David Allen Ballpark.

The Bobcats (41-17) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Warren Hutchinson scored on Dylan Champagne’s sacrifice fly. Madison responded quickly, tying the game in the bottom half on an RBI single by Nate Novinska.

Madison took control in the third inning, when Braylen White doubled and Ian Salvesen added an RBI single to give the Wolfpack a 2-1 lead. Sam Moses then delivered a two-run single, extending Madison’s advantage to 4-1. The Wolfpack added another run in the fourth on a groundout by Jonah Roloff.

Jones struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving 12 runners on base throughout the game. Canyon Reeves pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and striking out one after replacing starter Drew Lambert.

The Bobcats made a push in the eighth inning, with Sanders Ainsworth hitting a solo home run to cut the deficit to 5-2. Madison responded immediately, with Novinska hitting a three-run double to extend the lead to 8-2. Jones scored twice in the ninth, including a two-run homer by Chase Russell, but could not complete the rally.

Jones will face Iowa Central in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Monday. Iowa Central lost in 10 innings to Monroe, 16-9, earlier Sunday. Ainsworth led Jones offensively with two hits and a home run, while Russell added a two-run shot. Madison’s White finished with four hits and three runs scored, and Novinska drove in four runs. Noah Marschke earned the win for Madison, allowing two runs over 7.1 innings.
