Jones advances to sixth straight region title match

ELLISVILLE — Maria Martinez secured a 7-6, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, clinching a 5-0 win for Jones over Northwest at the region tournament. Martinez also teamed with Camila Piquín at No. 2 doubles for an 8-2 victory.

Jones swept all three doubles points to take control of the match. Caroline Kilpatrick added a singles win, defeating Ava McCain 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to earn the fourth team point.

The Bobcats will face the winner of the Copiah-Lincoln versus Gulf Coast match, which is set for 2 p.m. Saturday’s championship match is scheduled for 10 a.m.
