Jacksonville State Edges Mississippi Valley State in Baseball

Jacksonville State defeated Mississippi Valley State 15-3 on Tuesday at Rudy Abbott Field in Jacksonville, Alabama. The Gamecocks scored nine runs in the fifth inning, breaking open a close game and securing the win. Despite the loss, the Delta Devils’ pitchers posted three scoreless outings in relief, including Brock Lenhardt, Matthew Cuzco, and Jace Jones.

Eric Williams led Mississippi Valley State offensively, driving in three runs with a single and a sacrifice fly. Ty Burns reached safely in all four of his plate appearances, drawing two walks, singling, and getting hit by a pitch, scoring once. Israel Ramos contributed the team’s lone extra-base hit, a double. Jaxon Haynes added two walks to the effort.
