Jackson State Women’s Bowling Finishes Fourth at Southern Queens, Defeats Ranked Opponents

BATON ROUGE, La. — Jackson State’s women’s bowling team defeated two nationally ranked opponents, Sam Houston State and UAB, at the Southern Queens tournament over the weekend. The Tigers went 3-1 on the first day of competition, ending the day on a three-match winning streak.

The team defeated Southern University 941-912, Alabama A&M 958-885, and Grambling State 920-853. On Saturday, Jackson State’s best performance came during traditional play, with wins over Sam Houston State (926-875) and UAB (964-934). The Tigers finished the day with a 2-1 record, also beating Alabama State (924-909) and Southern (1,022-923).

Jackson State started the day ranked third but finished fourth after going 1-2 on Sunday, with wins over Alabama A&M and close losses to Southern. Senior Faith Washington placed seventh individually, averaging 199.00 and totaling 995 pins in five games, according to team sources.
