Jackson State to Face Grambling State in Key SWAC Series on the Road

Jackson State is set to open a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Grambling State on Thursday. The games will be played Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 3 p.m., and Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Tigers and Grambling State have already faced each other this season, with Grambling winning 8-7 at the Andre Dawson Classic in Vero Beach, Florida, on Feb. 22. Since 2010, the teams have met 28 times, with Jackson State leading the series 16-12. Thursday’s game marks the ninth meeting between the programs in Grambling.

Jackson State enters the series with a 13-16 overall record and a 4-5 record in SWAC play. Tyree Reed leads the team offensively, batting .369 with a .960 slugging percentage, eight doubles, a triple, and a home run. He has driven in 17 RBIs and scored 26 runs. Pierre Cabra leads the team with five home runs and 28 RBIs, also adding seven doubles and 28 runs scored. Robert Tate Jr. is hitting .341 with four home runs, 23 RBIs, and 27 runs scored.

On the mound, Jayden Lopez holds a 3-2 record with a 6.08 ERA over 37 innings, striking out 37 batters. Derek Arrocha is 2-3 with a 6.38 ERA in 36.2 innings, with 42 strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Jaedeyn Edwards and Kade Walker have combined for three saves, contributing to the team’s pitching efforts.
