Jackson State Pitcher Talmadge Davis Named SWAC Player of the Week
Jackson State University sophomore Talmadge Davis has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. The award comes after his standout performance on the road against Alabama A&M.
Davis, a right-handed pitcher, earned his first collegiate win with a complete game in an 18-1 run-rule victory over the Bulldogs on Friday. He allowed one run on three hits, struck out seven and walked two. The outing marked his second straight strong performance, with 18 strikeouts over his last two appearances, including 11 against Alabama State last week, according to Jackson State athletics.
The Tigers will return home Friday to start a three-game series against Alcorn State. Jackson State’s baseball team continues to compete in the SWAC, with Davis playing a key role this season. Fans are encouraged to follow Jackson State athletics on social media for updates.
