Jackson State fell to Nicholls 12-2 Tuesday night at Ray E. Didier Field in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The Tigers managed only four hits in the game, with Pierre Cabral collecting two of them, including an RBI. Tyree Reed and Tyshon Patty each added a hit, according to game reports.
Starting pitcher Christian Delgado took the loss, working 2.1 innings and allowing seven runs on five hits. Kevin De Los Santos pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, giving up just one hit, the report said.
The Colonels scored early and often. In the second inning, Greyson Shafer doubled to right field, driving in Nico RijoBerger. Keegan Giger followed with a three-run homer, extending the lead to 5-0. Nicholls added two runs in the third and continued to score in subsequent innings, ultimately prevailing 12-2.
Jackson State will return to action Friday in Houston to open conference play against Texas Southern. The team’s next home game is yet to be announced, according to athletic department officials.
