Jackson State Loses to New Orleans in Non-Conference Game

Jackson State lost to New Orleans 11-6 Tuesday in a non-conference game at Greer Stadium. The Tigers, who are 7-7, recorded 10 hits but couldn’t keep pace with the host team’s offensive production.

Tyree Reed went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for Jackson State. Diego Melendez and Edwin Lemus Hudson Jr. each drove in two runs in the loss.

Starting pitcher Kade Walker worked two innings, allowing one hit and one run. Relievers Manuel Toro and Joe Williams combined for three scoreless innings. Kevin De La Santos took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits in 0.2 innings out of the bullpen.

New Orleans’s offense was led by Owen Smith, who homered with four RBIs in the eighth inning. The Privateers scored multiple runs in the fifth through eighth innings, with key contributions from Evan Rogers and Kruise Newman.

Jackson State continues its road trip with three games at Seattle, beginning Friday. All three games will air on ESPN+, according to the university’s athletics department.
