Jackson State Falls to New Orleans After Winning Doubles Point

Jackson, Miss. — The Jackson State men’s tennis team won the doubles point but fell to the University of New Orleans Privateers in a home match Wednesday afternoon.

Federico Pickenstainer and Jhoan Vaquero started strong, defeating Beltran Fernandez and Carolos Melgosa 6-1. Gokalp Ayar and Fabrizio Fallas sealed the doubles victory for the Tigers with another 6-1 win.

In singles play, Vaquero won the first set 6-3, and both Ayar and Fallas recorded five points in their second sets. Despite the doubles success, the Privateers secured the overall win.

The Tigers will travel to Hattiesburg to face Southern Miss on Friday, February 13, at 2 p.m.
