Georgia beats Ole Miss 5-1 in series finale at Swayze Field

Ole Miss baseball lost to Georgia 5-1 in the series finale Sunday at Swayze Field, concluding a three-game series. Despite a strong start from Ole Miss pitcher Taylor Rabe, the Rebels could not overcome their offensive struggles against the Bulldogs.

Rabe pitched six innings, striking out six without issuing a walk. He allowed three runs on nine hits. Georgia’s Caden Aoki matched Rabe’s performance, pitching effectively in a duel that kept the game close early. Rabe’s defense also played a role in keeping the Rebels within striking distance, despite the runs allowed.

Ole Miss managed only five hits in the game. Tristan Bissetta and Owen Paino each went 2-for-4, while Dom Decker scored the team’s only run on a groundout. The Rebels had a bases-loaded opportunity in the ninth but failed to capitalize, ending the game scoreless that inning. Georgia scored two unearned runs in the ninth after a fielding error by Ole Miss.

Georgia improved to 34-11 overall and 15-6 in SEC play, while Ole Miss fell to 31-14 and 11-10 in conference. The Rebels are scheduled to face Mississippi State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT for the Governor’s Cup, with the Bulldogs holding a 6-0 record in the series this season.

Postgame comments and analysis are available from coaches and players. The teams will continue conference play next weekend, with Ole Miss preparing for upcoming SEC and NCAA tournament games, depending on postseason selection.
