Florida A&M routs Jackson State 23-8 after Reed’s three homers
Jackson, Miss. — Tyree Reed had a career day with three home runs and five RBIs, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Jackson State from falling to Florida A&M. The Rattlers scored 23 runs in a decisive victory Sunday in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
Reed opened the scoring with a solo home run in his first at-bat, then added two more homers — one in the third inning and another in the fourth. He finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs. Teammate Tyshon Patty also contributed offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Jackson State used multiple pitchers, with starter Manuel Toro leaving early. Reliever Derek Arrocha took the loss, working 2.1 innings. Florida A&M’s offense was led by a big sixth inning, during which the team scored 14 runs and sent 16 batters to the plate. Caden Kresak and Jackson McKenzie homered for the Rattlers during that rally.
The Tigers’ next game is scheduled for Friday, when they host Alabama State in a conference series. Jackson State’s social media accounts and official website provide ongoing coverage of the team’s season.
