Montgomery, Ala. — William Carey University’s men’s basketball team lost a key Southern States Athletic Conference game to Faulkner University 105-88 Thursday night at Tine Davis Gym.

The Crusaders traded baskets with the Eagles early, with contributions from Anthony Robinson, Javeon Gordon, and Randarius Hughes keeping the game close. William Carey stopped the drought with five straight points and continued to battle. A layup by Jamar Jenkins with six minutes left cut the deficit to 38-36. Despite strong defense, offensive struggles late in the first half allowed Faulkner to take a 52-44 lead at halftime.

WCU kept the score close, pulling within one multiple times, including a layup by Roberts with under 13 minutes remaining. However, Faulkner responded with a 22-7 run after a three-pointer from Jordyn Turner-Durley, pushing its lead to 17 with seven minutes left.

The Eagles continued to extend their advantage and ultimately secured the victory. Roberts led William Carey with 21 points, while Jenkins added 15. Troy Dunn finished with 11 points, and Gordon scored 10.

The Crusaders are scheduled to return to action Saturday, February 14, when they travel to Mobile for another conference game. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
