Delta State Women Break School Record in 400 Medley Relay at Conference Championships

Pensacola, Fla. — The Delta State women’s swim and dive program showcased a strong performance Thursday at the New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships, highlighted by a school-record in the 400-yard medley relay.

The team finished second in the relay with a time of 3:41.69, surpassing the NCAA Division II B-cut standard. The relay was a highlight of the night, with the program’s fastest time to date, according to team officials.

Individual events also saw several top finishes for Delta State. Sophomore Zinna Nimander placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 55.20 seconds, after posting a 54.52 in prelims. Senior Janne Bodemer finished third in the same event, clocking 55.82, after a preliminary time of 55.33. Bodemer also contributed to a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:29.12, a NCAA Division II B-cut.

Other standout performances included sophomore Julia Maciak, who improved her time in the 400 IM to 4:40.25 from prelims. In the 200 freestyle, sophomore Kennedy Cleasant finished fourth in 1:52.61, also a Division II B-cut. Junior Ave Owens and senior Kaley Davis added points in the same event, with times of 1:55.20 and 1:55.64, respectively. Freshman Rhianna Foster won the B-final in 1:54.48.

With these performances, Delta State remains in second place overall with 447 points, trailing West Florida, which leads with 614 points, after 20 events.
