Delta State Leads Division II with 219 Academic Achievement Awards

Delta State University’s athletic department set a Division II record with 219 student-athletes earning the D2 Athletic Director’s Association Academic Achievement Award, the organization announced Thursday.

Delta State was one of 15 schools in Division II to have more than 200 student-athletes recognized. The awards honor students with a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale, who have completed at least two years of college and participated actively on an intercollegiate team during their last academic year.

Jenn Bell, associate vice president and director of athletics at Converse University and current D2 ADA president, praised the achievement. “In year 19, this program continues its dedication to celebrating the exceptional student-athletes who define excellence across our Division II landscape,” she said. “We’re proud to recognize more than 21,000 deserving student-athletes from 179 institutions, reflecting the tremendous dedication within our division — not only in athletics, but in the classroom as well.”

Bell also thanked the school administrators who nominated these individuals and congratulated the recipients. To qualify, student-athletes must be current dues-paying members of the D2 ADA and meet the GPA, attendance, and participation requirements, officials said.
