Delta State Baseball Loses Doubleheader to West Alabama

Delta State University’s baseball team lost both games of Saturday’s Gulf South Conference doubleheader against West Alabama at Ferriss Field. The Tigers won the first game 10–5 and the second 11–5.

In the opener, West Alabama scored three multi-run innings and hit two home runs from Jack Buening to pull away. Delta State responded with a two-run double from Austin Batts in the second and added runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth. Batts went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Levi Lang added two hits and an RBI. Cade Greer homered in the seventh, and Landon Holliman tripled home a run in the sixth.

Blake King took the loss, allowing seven runs in 4.1 innings. In the nightcap, West Alabama again struck early, building a 6–0 lead through three innings on two home runs from Hayes Alford. Delta State responded with two runs in the third on an RBI fielder’s choice by Jacob Palazzo and an RBI single from Cade Greer. Holliman contributed a run-scoring single in the fourth and later doubled and scored, finishing with three hits. Levi Lang added an RBI single in the sixth.

Aidan McCrady was charged with the loss after 2.2 innings. West Alabama’s Kaiden Jones hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Across both games, Holliman reached base five times, scored three runs, and totaled four hits including a double and a triple. Greer drove in three runs, and Lang had three RBIs overall.

Delta State will play next Tuesday at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas, at 3 p.m., according to team officials.
