Delta State Baseball Heads to Arkadelphia for Midweek Game Against Ouachita Baptist

The Delta State University Statesmen baseball team is set to play Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. It will be their first away midweek game of the season. The Statesmen enter the game with a 9-2 record overall and a 6-0 mark in Gulf South Conference play, riding a seven-game winning streak.

They are coming off a weekend sweep of the Union Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Ouachita Baptist is on a five-game winning streak, including a midweek win over No. 23 Harding. The Tigers hold a 9-2 record overall and a 4-2 mark in the Great American Conference.

The game will be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Network and 107.5 FM, with Michael Gross calling the action. Delta State’s offensive leaders include Levi Lang, who is batting .395 with a .509 on-base percentage. Last week, Lang went 7-for-15 at the plate with four RBIs, four walks, and a stolen base. Tucker Jones and Lang each have 11 RBIs this season. Jones went 9-for-20 last weekend with six RBIs, while Austin Estes and Jacob Hill have scored 17 and 15 runs, respectively.

On the mound, Dawson Muenzenmay has been a standout reliever for the Statesmen, appearing in five games with 8.1 innings pitched, 12 strikeouts, and no runs allowed. For Ouachita Baptist, Joseph Bolin leads the Tigers with 12 RBIs and three home runs. Jaren Ceasar boasts a .395 batting average with two doubles and eight stolen bases. Andrew Hayden has made six relief appearances with a 6.00 ERA over nine innings.

The game marks an important matchup for both teams as they look to continue their winning ways early in the season.
