Coahoma Baseball Sweeps Mississippi Delta in High-Scoring Doubleheader

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Coahoma Community College’s baseball team defeated Mississippi Delta Community College twice Wednesday in Moorhead, Mississippi, showcasing offensive firepower and solid pitching. The Tigers won the first game 16-10 and the second 10-3.

In Game One, Trey Williams went 5-for-5 with four RBIs, and John Wyatt Massey hit a two-run home run to spark a 13-run third inning. Massey, the Tigers’ catcher, also launched his second homer of the day in Game Two, a solo shot in the sixth inning. Williams’ offensive performance made him the top hitter of the day.

Starting pitcher Bryson Ford earned the win in Game One, striking out 10 batters over 6 2/3 innings. Andrew Woods finished the game with scoreless relief. Coahoma finished with 14 hits, five stolen bases and clean defense.

In the nightcap, Massey’s second home run extended the Tigers’ lead. Multiple players, including Janerrick Isler, Kolby Baker, and Gregory Fore, contributed two hits each. Massey and Colyn West drove in two runs apiece. Conner Timbs pitched seven innings for the win, allowing three runs and striking out seven.

Coach Austin Biggs praised his team’s performance. “Really great day by our guys,” he said. “Our starters, Bryson Ford and Conner Timbs, were really good today and gave us a chance. Just have to continue to stack games like these.”
