Blue Mountain dominates Night Hawks in SSAC basketball clash
Blue Mountain, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Toppers rolled to a 77-38 victory over the Thomas University Night Hawks in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Thursday night.
The Toppers set the tone early with intense defense and efficient scoring. They opened the game on a 24-5 run in the first quarter, forcing turnovers and converting them into points. Blue Mountain maintained control throughout the game, extending its lead in the second quarter with balanced offense and steady execution.
After halftime, the Toppers stayed aggressive and outscored the Night Hawks in the third quarter. They attacked the paint and knocked down perimeter shots, pulling further ahead. In the fourth quarter, Blue Mountain continued its consistent effort, finishing strong to secure the win.
Rebecca Walter led the Toppers with 18 points and contributed on defense inside. Kathryn Echols added 15 points, including multiple three-pointers. Maddie Kirk and Lena Taylor each scored 11 points, providing scoring depth. Kirk also led in rebounds with nine, while Isabella Carlson added eight rebounds and three assists. Blue Mountain’s depth and defensive pressure helped sustain their intensity through all four quarters, improving their momentum in SSAC play.
