Blue Mountain Christian Track Teams Shine at Mississippi College Spring Invite
Share: Clinton, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s track and field teams competed Saturday at the Mississippi College Spring Invite, with several athletes delivering notable efforts across distance and field events.
Jonah Barnhardt led the men’s distance group with a top finish in the 5,000 meters, clocking 15:42.88 for eighth place in a competitive field. Teammate Lukas Dykes finished 18th in 16:30.22. Erick Flores ran 18:03.84 to place 23rd, while JT Draper and Noah Harrington finished 26th and 27th, respectively.
On the women’s side, Kaedyn Wilson was the Topper with a 12th-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 20:04.35. Ella Shepherd finished 15th in 20:45.07, and Lauren Paul was 18th with a time of 23:01.52.
In the 1,500 meters, JaKarien Perry led the men’s entries with a 15th-place finish in 4:26.50. Dykes was 16th in 4:26.74, and Barnhardt finished 22nd in 4:30.28. On the women’s side, Jorja Kate Mooneyhan finished 20th in 5:39.72, followed by Ruthie Hutchinson in 23rd and Leah Montgomery in 26th.
Perry also competed in the men’s 800 meters, finishing 18th in 2:05.87, while Sammuel Hopper was 20th in 2:09.70. In the women’s 800 meters, Mooneyhan finished ninth overall with a time of 2:37.73, and Hutchinson was 11th in 2:44.53.
In field events, Abby Laney placed 18th in the women’s discus throw with a mark of 26.30 meters. Shane Murphee finished 10th in the men’s javelin throw with a distance of 36.65 meters.
Topper results include Barnhardt’s eighth-place finish in the men’s 5,000 meters, Wilson’s 12th in the women’s 5,000 meters, Perry’s 15th in the men’s 1,500 meters, and Mooneyhan’s ninth in the women’s 800 meters.
