Blue Mountain Christian Falls to Dalton State in Tight Battle
Blue Mountain, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Christian men’s basketball team competed with energy and purpose Saturday night at Tyler Gymnasium but ultimately fell 90-80 to Dalton State College in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
The Toppers stayed within striking distance throughout the game, showing balance and resilience on both ends of the floor. They opened the contest with a strong tempo, trading baskets early and executing their offense well. The team moved the ball effectively in the first half and attacked the paint with confidence, matching Dalton State’s timely scoring.
The second half carried the same intensity, with Blue Mountain Christian responding to Dalton State runs and keeping the deficit manageable. Shannon and Baker led the offensive effort, combining for 45 points. Shannon scored 23, while Baker added 22.
Blue Mountain Christian mixed perimeter shooting with aggressive drives and generated second-chance opportunities to apply pressure. However, Dalton State capitalized on key moments down the stretch, extending its lead late in the game.
The Toppers’ effort was characterized by resilience, with contributions from across the lineup and consistent energy on defense. Their ability to compete wire-to-wire against a strong Dalton State team highlighted the team’s growth as conference play continues.
Blue Mountain Christian will travel to Stillman College on Tuesday night, looking to build on its performance.
