Pulaski, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian came up just short in a tight SSAC matchup Friday night, losing 77-74 to Tennessee Southern. The game featured multiple lead changes and a late rally by the Toppers that kept the outcome uncertain until the final seconds, according to the teams.
Tennessee Southern took an early lead in the first quarter, capitalizing on efficient possessions. Blue Mountain Christian stayed within striking distance throughout the first half, continuing to attack inside despite trailing at halftime. The Toppers emerged from the break with renewed energy, cutting into the deficit during the third quarter with better ball movement and shot selection.
In the final quarter, Blue Mountain Christian surged, scoring 26 points and matching Tennessee Southern shot for shot. Multiple late baskets brought the game within one possession, forcing the host team to execute under pressure in the closing seconds. Tennessee Southern managed to hold on for the victory, according to reports.
Rebecca Walter led the Toppers with 21 points, shooting efficiently and providing a consistent offensive threat.
