Jackson, Miss. — John Wade and Maryanna Guy of Belhaven University have been named C Spire Athletes of the Week for their performances in recent games, according to the school.
Wade, a sophomore pitcher from Houma, Louisiana, pitched 1.1 innings last weekend, striking out all four batters faced and earning two saves at Covenant. He leads the team with seven saves and 14 strikeouts, while opponents are batting just .080 against him, the school said.
Guy, a junior infielder from Brandon, Mississippi, hit .571 with three RBIs in two games against nationally ranked Huntingdon last weekend. She is currently on an 18-game hitting streak, the longest for a Belhaven player since 2021, according to the school.
The Belhaven baseball team hosts LaGrange for a three-game series beginning Friday, while the softball team travels to Millsaps tonight to face the Majors in the second game of the Riverside Rivalry, the school added.
