Belhaven’s Macy Funderburk Named CCS Softball Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA — Belhaven University junior Macy Funderburk has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. This marks the third time Funderburk has received the honor.

Funderburk was instrumental out of the bullpen during the Blazers’ series against Covenant. She earned two wins in relief, tossing 8.2 scoreless innings. She allowed only two hits, struck out 10 batters and walked none. Opponents hit just .071 against her during the outings, as she consistently worked ahead and limited any rally potential.

The weekend performances added to Funderburk’s strong season. Through Monday, she holds a 5-3 record with a 1.15 earned run average over 36.2 innings pitched. She has struck out 55 batters and opponents are batting .169 against her.

Funderburk and the Blazers will have a few days off before hosting Huntingdon on Friday at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s CCS Tournament championship game.
