Belhaven’s Katelyn Coleman Named CCS Player of the Week

ATLANTA — Belhaven University senior forward Katelyn Coleman was named the Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The award marks Coleman’s second career CCS Player of the Week honor.

During a perfect 3-0 week in conference play, Coleman played a key role in the Blazers’ success. She helped secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCS Tournament after a strong finish to the regular season, which included a dominant Senior Day victory and a win over Huntingdon College.

Across three games, the Mound Bayou, Mississippi, native logged 74 minutes and posted one of her best performances of the season in a 73-44 win over Huntingdon. She recorded a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

For the week, Coleman scored 43 points on 19-for-35 shooting, averaging efficient production inside and in transition. She also contributed 20 rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and four blocks. Her activity helped Belhaven force turnovers and convert them into points, fueling the team’s late-season surge.

Her consistent play has been vital to Belhaven’s 18-6 overall record and 11-5 mark in CCS play heading into the postseason. The Blazers will face the winner of the Asbury-Piedmont game on Friday, Feb. 27, as they aim to build on their three-game win streak.
