Belhaven Tennis Opens 2026 Season with Losses at Hinds Community College

The Belhaven men’s and women’s tennis teams opened the 2026 season Thursday afternoon with matches at Hinds Community College. The Blazers’ men’s team fell 6-3, while the women’s team was shut out 9-0.

Belhaven’s men secured an early doubles point with an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles by Jack Madden and Briley Oakes. However, Hinds claimed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. In singles, the Blazers responded with straight-set wins from Stephen Spencer at No. 4 and Briley Oakes at No. 5. Hinds won at the top three singles positions to clinch the match. A close contest occurred at No. 6 singles, where Paul Stager lost in a super tiebreak, 12-10.

The women’s team was swept in doubles, with Hinds winning all three matches. Rebekah Nichols and Millie Gallarno competed at No. 1 doubles, while Khliyah McCaskill-Ford and Arica Eason played at No. 2. In singles, Nichols faced a tough opponent at No. 1, and Gallarno, McCaskill-Ford, and Eason each competed at Nos. 2 through 4. Hinds completed the sweep with wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles.
