Belhaven Softball Sweeps LaGrange, Clinches CCS Regular Season Title

The Belhaven softball team ended its regular season with a doubleheader sweep of LaGrange on Saturday at Jim McLeod Field. The Blazers honored seniors Reagan Bryan, Lauren Dunbar, Madeline Bullock, and Ellie Williamson during the games.

Belhaven secured the CCS Regular Season Championship with an 11-3 win in five innings in the first game. The team scored early and often, with key hits from Dunbar, Williamson, and Bullock. Macy Funderburk pitched 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out three to earn the win.

The Blazers continued their momentum in the second game, winning 10-2 in five innings. They used a seven-run third inning to take control. Kaleigh Steverson and Williamson contributed offensively, with Williamson hitting a three-run double. AR Sharp started and pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, with Laura Beth Nesmith closing out the game.

Belhaven will enter next week’s CCS Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The team will face the winner of LaGrange and Maryville in its opening game. The Blazers aim to defend their title in the postseason.
