Belhaven Men’s Tennis Sweeps Holmes CC in Dominant Performance

The Belhaven men’s tennis team defeated Holmes Community College 7-0 Wednesday at Parham Bridges. The Blazers took control early by sweeping all three doubles courts to earn the first point.

In doubles action, Josiah Leggett and Briley Oakes won 6-1 at No. 1. Jesus Diaz and Bernard Jackson followed with a 6-0 win at No. 2, and Mark Breedlove and Jack Madden completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory at No. 3.

Belhaven carried its momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Leggett opened with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1. Madden posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2, while Breedlove secured a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3.

Paul Stager added a 6-6, 6-1 win at No. 4, and Jackson improved to 3-1 in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Ashton Vasquez closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6.

Meanwhile, the Belhaven women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Holmes. Holmes claimed the doubles point, winning all three courts, including two by default. In singles, Evey Moore earned a 6-4 victory at No. 3, and Arica Eason nearly forced a third-set super tiebreak at No. 4 before falling short. The Blazers also received a win by forfeit at No. 5, but Holmes secured the remaining points to win the team match.
