Belhaven Men’s Golf Ties for Eighth at Hal Sutton Invitational
The Belhaven men’s golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Hal Sutton Invitational, held at The Golf Club at Stone Bridge in Bossier City, Louisiana. The team posted a total score of 69 over two rounds, improving significantly in the second round after a rough start.
Belhaven opened the tournament with a team score of 40 over par in the first round. Levi Turner led the team with an 80, while Andy Scherer and John McIntosh each shot 81. Gannon Williams contributed an 82 to round out the scoring group. The team entered the second round 11 strokes behind the leaders.
In the final round, Belhaven showed notable improvement. Scherer shot a 75, the lowest score of the tournament for the team. Turner added a 76, maintaining consistency across both rounds. McIntosh and Williams each finished with 83. Andrew Rogers posted a 73, one of the lowest rounds of the tournament, boosting Team B’s efforts.
Belhaven will take nearly a month off before competing again at the Cochran Collegiate on April 13. The team aims to carry the momentum from the final round into the rest of their spring schedule.
