Belhaven Alumnus Reflects on Soccer Career and College Memories

Stephen Lytton credited coach Najaar for influencing his decision to attend Belhaven University. He also noted that the university’s soccer program consistently competed on the national stage, making it a good fit for him.

One of Lytton’s favorite memories was a victory against Mobile during his sophomore year. The game was a rivalry match against a nationally ranked team and helped the team secure regional placement. He also mentioned that serving as team captain his final year and playing alongside his brother were highlights of his college experience.

Lytton said he misses the locker room and his teammates, many of whom remain close friends. He stays involved with soccer through his three children, who play or played club soccer, keeping him connected to the sport daily.

During his playing days, Lytton played alongside talented athletes, including Jeremy Shortt, an All-American forward at Belhaven, and Bubba Williams, a Belhaven All-American alum who played in the Premier Development League and was known for his skill and finishing ability.
