Belhaven Advances to CCS Championship Series with Win Over Maryville

PEARL, Miss. — Belhaven’s offense fueled a 10-2 victory over Maryville on Sunday at Trustmark Park, earning a spot in the CCS Championship Series for the second consecutive season, according to team sources.

The Blazers scored early and often, collecting 15 hits and scoring in four innings. They broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning with a three-run frame and added three more runs in the fourth to take control of the game. Key contributors included Jake McCann, who had three hits, and Hayden Roberts and Trey Smith, each driving in multiple runs.

Starting pitcher Gunner Staten pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and limited further damage in the sixth, helping Belhaven maintain its lead. Relief pitchers Logan McNamara and Brandon Rhodes pitched the final three innings, combining to allow just two hits and keep Maryville off the scoreboard.

Belhaven’s offensive explosion was supported by aggressive baserunning and clutch hitting. Parker Ryan tripled to start the seventh inning, and Weed’s RBI double extended the lead. The Blazers added three insurance runs in that frame, securing their advancement. They will face Piedmont on Monday at Trustmark Park in the conference final, aiming for back-to-back titles, according to team officials.
