Avery Weed Makes First Team All-SEC in Women’s Golf
Mississippi State junior Avery Weed was named to the First Team All-SEC in women’s golf, the Southeastern Conference announced Friday. This marks Weed’s third consecutive all-conference honor, following her selection to the All-Freshman team and second-team recognition last year, according to the SEC.
Hailing from Ocean Springs, Weed has consistently ranked among the top players in the conference. She has finished in the top 20 in seven of nine stroke play events this season and placed in the top five on five occasions. Her scoring average of 70.22 leads her team and would rank as the second-best single-season mark in program history, the school said.
Weed has set numerous records during her three seasons at Mississippi State. She has recorded 50 rounds of par or better, ranking fourth in program history. Of those, 21 rounds were in the 60s, the third-most in school history. Her career scoring average of 71.67 is the second-best in Bulldog history, according to the university.
The Bulldogs will continue postseason play at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, beginning May 11. Fans can follow the team’s progress on social media by searching ‘HailStateWG’ on X, Facebook, and Instagram, or visit www.HailState.com for updates, the school added.
