Alcorn State Releases 2026 Football Schedule
Alcorn State University football released its 2026 schedule Tuesday, featuring an 11-game slate with four home games at Jack Spinks – Marino Casem Stadium in Lorman, Mississippi. All kickoff times are listed in Central Standard Time.
Under third-year head coach Cedric Thomas, the Braves finished the 2025 season with a 5-7 record. They won four of their last five games and posted a 4-4 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
The season opens with an away game against the University of Southern Mississippi on Sept. 5. It will be the teams’ first meeting since 2023 and just the fourth overall since 2009. The following weekend, Alcorn participates in the 37th Southern Heritage Classic at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, facing SWAC opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
The Braves’ home opener is scheduled for Sept. 26 against Texas Southern at 3 p.m., coinciding with High School Day. In October, Alcorn visits Grambling State on the 3rd, hosts Arkansas Baptist for Homecoming and Breast Cancer Awareness Day on the 10th at 2 p.m., and travels to Prairie View A&M on the 17th. They enjoy a bye week on Oct. 24.
Alcorn’s Halloween game is at Mississippi Valley State on Oct. 31 in Itta Bena. The team then hosts Florida A&M for Military & Service Workers Day on Nov. 7, marking their first meeting in history. The Rattlers won last year’s game 33-28 in Tallahassee, Florida.
The schedule concludes with games at Southern University on Nov. 14 and against Jackson State at home on Nov. 21, which is Senior Appreciation Day. The SWAC Football Championship is set for Dec. 5 at a campus site. Ticket details will be announced later, and fans are encouraged to follow the team on social media for updates.
