Thursday morning, 13 Lewisburg High School senior baseball players signed to the colleges they will be playing with in the fall.
Last season, the team won the school’s second state championship and first as a MHSAA 6A team. According to Perfect Game USA, the Burg Boys finished the year ranked 11th nationally and 1st in the state of Mississippi.
The Class of 2024 signees include: Sam Richardson with the University of Texas, Austin Hannigan with the University of Memphis, Stone Maccaughey with the University of Mississippi, Cayden Baker with Baylor University, Matthew Osteen with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Trae Cagle and Easton Fesmire with Northeast Mississippi Community College, Gunner Gilmore with Air Force Academy, Cooper Bennett with Meridian Community College, Matthew Magee with Gulf Coast Community College, and Caleb Staggs, Garrett Churchill, and Kody Gilmore with Mississippi Delta Community College.
Head Coach Rusty Cagle, 2023 6A MHSAA Coach of the Year, states, “I’m proud of the players and their families. They have worked hard to get where they are. I’m equally as proud of the young men they are.”
Their 2023-2024 season will begin March 7, where they will play Grenada High School.
The “Burg Boys” have bright futures ahead of them after they graduate in 2024.
