Noah Schlagenhauf Extends Dual Singles Win Streak as Ole Miss Falls to Florida

Gainesville, Fla. — Ole Miss senior Noah Schlagenhauf extended his winning streak to 11 dual singles matches Friday, but the Rebels fell to No. 22 Florida 6-1 at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.

Schlagenhauf, who has now won 16 singles matches this season, defeated Florida’s Kevin Edengren in a three-set thriller. He took the first set 6-2, lost the second 6-3, and claimed the decisive third set 12-10 in a tiebreaker.

Despite Schlagenhauf’s victory, Ole Miss (14-4, 2-4 SEC) was unable to secure any other singles wins. Florida’s four ranked singles players contributed to the Gators’ team victory, which included wins from players ranked as high as 31st.

In doubles, Ole Miss was competitive early but ultimately fell behind after the Gators won the doubles point. The closest match was on court one, where the Rebels and Florida’s duo were tied at 5-5 before the match was unfinished.

The Rebels will next face South Carolina on Sunday, March 15, at 12 p.m. CT in Columbia, South Carolina, continuing SEC play. The upcoming match will mark their second consecutive contest against a ranked opponent.
