Mississippi State Track and Field Set for SEC Outdoor Championships
Mississippi State’s track and field team is preparing to compete in the SEC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Auburn University in Alabama, this weekend. The event marks the start of the outdoor season with all 16 SEC teams participating, including some of the top-ranked squads nationally, according to conference officials.
The Bulldogs will send 48 athletes to compete in 32 events. Of those, 25 athletes will be making their SEC outdoor championship debuts. The team hopes to build on the momentum from the regular season, with 13 athletes ranked in the top 10 in the conference, according to team officials.
Last year’s SEC silver medalist Marie Rougetet currently leads the conference in the hammer throw by more than two meters. Roury McCloyen, who won bronze in the shot put at this year’s indoor championships, is ranked fourth in the SEC. Sacha Rifflart will be the first Bulldog to compete, participating in the decathlon after finishing fourth in the indoor heptathlon earlier this year.
Competition begins Thursday afternoon and runs through Saturday evening. For more information, fans can visit HailState.com or follow the team on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook under the handle “HailStateTF.”
